Over 60's Dance Troupe and Classes

After the rigours of last year’s 25th Anniversary, the Grey Panthers have a year of charity performances. Beginning with a performance at the hospital for April Falls Day on April 1st, the dancers showed how a healthy lifestyle with exercise and enjoyment can help avoid falls in the elderly, and increase recovery if one does fall. (“Physical” and  “Ballin the Jack”, choreographed by David McMicken,  “Who Can Remember Sweet November” by Joanna Noonan, and “Cabaret” by Jess Devereux.)

The Grey Panthers joined our youth Pop Up Dance Mob to entertain and excite the many audience at the Seabreeze Festival, Nightcliff, performing “One” by David McMicken. Next a performance at the Greek School for the Biggest Morning Tea cancer fund raiser, the women entertained with their dancing and fashion parade (for Frock Me), performing “Who Can Remember Sweet November” and “Cabaret”. For the Linga Longa Festival in Batchelor, the group premiered the  Aeroplane Jelly dance and  Fly Me to the Moon (David McMicken), as well as performing Ballin’ the Jack, and Cabaret. Next they performed at Maulden Primary for the finale of the Palmerston Seniors Month with Cabaret and One (David McMicken). The group enjoyed a sharing with the Batchelor local chapter of Council Of The Aging which included activities in the township, lunch and then a shared warmup, teaching some dances to the locals and then performing Ballin’ the Jack, Physical, Who can Remember Sweet November, and One.

A full program of six dances was presented at the Australian Rehabilitation Nurse's Association National conference (Physical, Ballin' The Jack, Who Can remember Sweet November, Cabaret, Aeroplane Jelly and the debut of the new version of Fever). Feedback was great and the women really displayed the benefits of an active senior life. All of the Attending nurses went away "expressing the good fortune to have been able to be a part of the performance."

To finish off the year, the group performed at the Firemen's Pensioner Christmas Party , presenting Cabaret and the Abba Medley.
