MR BIG is a high-energy dance performance with a fusion of contemporary Western, Indigenous, hip-hop and South East Asian styles. The venue is set between Darwin’s cityscape and the iconic ‘Duck Pond’ on Darwin harbour – the first time in 60 years public access has been allowed to this site.

MR BIG demolishes the past, creating a glistening new future but can He stop the mud oozing from the edge of re-development? As the wrecking-ball obliterates the past, what does the future promise in one of Australia’s fastest developing cities?

Six dancers have been chosen through audition to represent the best that Darwin’s young adults have to offer. Thirty other local youth dancers will join the lead six in this feature performance of the Darwin Festival, including 5 Indigenous male dancers from the remote community of Lajamanu. MR BIG also introduces guest Choreographer Nick Power from Gravity Warriors in Brisbane.
