Jerril Rechter |

Jerril Rechter is considered to be
at the forefront of youth dance practice in this country.
Completing her Bachelor of Education (Dance and Theatre)
at Deakin University Rusden, Jerril moved to Tasmania
in 1988 to join Tasdance (Director Jenny Kinder). Jerril
formed Stompin’ Youth Dance Company in 1992 and
has been responsible for directing over 15 pieces, collaborating
with significant artists from various disciplines across
Australia. |
She has worked as a freelance teacher
and choreographer with various community groups, the
University of Tasmania, Salamanca Theatre Company and
was head of the Dance Department at Launceston College
for the last nine years. She has held positions on the
Australia Council Dance Fund, the Tasmanian Arts Advisory
Board and was Chair of the Theatre Panel for Arts Tasmania.
Jerril received a Churchill Fellowship in 1998, undertook
Australia Council Fellowship to pursue her choreographic
practice and Artistic Direction and Management of multi
art form organisations in 2000 - 2001. |
Jerril has just taken up the position
of Director, Footscray Community Arts Centre. |
