Koel began dancing in Darwin at the age of 7 with Shauna Ricardo. She has danced ever since experimenting with lots of different styles including jazz, contemporary, musical theatre and now even the occasional bit of break dancing. She began working with Joanna Noonan in 2006 when she undertook Dance studies as one of her year twelve subjects performing in the year twelve moderation productions in 2006 and 2007.

Koel participated in her first Tracks production 4WD at the tender age of seven through school.
