Lynette was born in Tennant Creek and is a descendant of the Warrumungu and Wambaya tribes in North Central Australia. She studied dance at the Aboriginal Dance Theatre in Redfern and drama at the National Institute of Dramatic Art, Sydney.

On her return to the Territory, Lynette established the Arid Zone Dance Theatre in Tennant Creek. She worked with Students That Action Reconciliation Seriously (STARS) in Darwin and participated in the ambassador group in the festival of Pacific Arts in Noumea, New Caledonia. She has enjoyed work as a tutor for the Corrugated Iron Youth Theatre. Lynette performed in Fierce.
