Born a Novocastrian, Vanessa’s interests have always been in theatre, dance and large scale events. After completing a degree at University of Wollongong in Production Management and Lighting Design, Vanessa moved to Darwin in 1994 as Darwin Theatre Company’s Production Manager. She stayed for five years and worked closely with Darwin’s art communities including Tracks Dance (4wd, The Land, the Cross & the Lotus), Darwin Entertainment Centre, Darwin Chorale, and CIYT. |

In 1999 Vanessa moved back to Sydney and has worked with some of Australia’s flagship companies; Legs On The Wall, The Marrugeku Company, Howard Barker’s The Wresting School, Chunky Move, Barry Kosky, Nigel Jamieson, Sydney Olympic Opening Ceremony, Centenary Of Federation Parade, and Australia Pavilion Aichi World Expo Japan 2005. With these companies and events Vanessa has successfully toured Australian entertainment through Europe, America, England, South America and Asia.

In 2002 Vanessa joined Bangarra Dance Theatre as Production Manager and stayed for three years. With Bangarra Vanessa travelled extensively taking Indigenous dance through mainstream America, Europe and Australia’s Capital and regional cities. Vanessa ‘s efforts contributed to award winning works, Walkabout, Bush and Clan each receiving accolades for lighting and design, including Helpman and Green Room honours. |

Vanessa has returned to Darwin as Arafura Games 2007 Opening Ceremony Event Coordinator. In her spare time she delivered lighting and production design values to Tracks for their 2006 Darwin Festival show Mr Big. She hopes to continue to work with Tracks in the near future. |
