Giving voice to Territory culture means creating work for and about all Territorians. Seniors are often overlooked for the ‘younger’ models, and yet they hold an enormous amount of valuable knowledge, wisdom and know-how. When it comes to maintaining, developing, and passing on culture to younger generations, the role of the senior is invaluable. With the largest per capita population of Indigenous Australians, some Northern Territory seniors have access to held within one of the oldest living cultures in the world. |

Tracks places great value on these people and creates performances that speak to and about this vital section of our community. We run training sessions, provide access to participation in mainstream events, promote activities widely, tour works, and generally provide an environment where the senior mover feels at home. |

Tracks has a relationship with two key groups of seniors: The Yawalyu Ceremonial Dancers of Lajamanu and the Grey
Panthers. These relationships began in 1988 and continue to the present. Both groups make major contributions to the company’s body of work. |

"it’s better than taking
a pill…"
Glad Morris (86), a founding member |

In 1988 Tracks formed the Grey Panthers,
a unique group of Territory women predominantly over
60. With over 1,200 collective years of wisdom they
dance, sing, act, write, perform drill marching and
poetry, and ride on the back of Harley-Davidson bikes
in street parades. |
| |
There is very little these women have
not done! |
| |
The Grey Panthers perform regularly
for special events, especially for older adults, women
and health organisations such as the Arthritis Foundation,
U3A, Senior Territorian Art Award, International Women’s
Day, and the Administrator’s Pleasure annual
charity concert. |
| |
Together they have written, designed
and performed in five major full length performances.
