Invisible Heroes - Arafura Ensemble co-production
Text
Supreme Court, Darwin
April 26, 1998
Co-production with Arafura Ensemble, Invisible Heroes was a celebration of facets of our identity as Australians. This joint performance between Tracks professional dancers, Tracks Dance Mob, Aboriginal student placement Stanley Stanislaus, and the Arafura Ensemble, involved the choreography of new works using music by Australian composers, Andrew Heleberg (Darwin), Peter Sculthorpe and Romano Crivici (Electra Quartet).
Invisible Heroes celebrated facets of our identity as Australians and the Australian experience: the land, our multicultural society, the influences of the ANZACS and ANZAC day, and survivors of WW11. The project aimed at building new audiences for both Tracks and the Arafura Ensemble, creating new original work, collaborating with artists from other art forms and collaborating with local artists. It gave Tracks Dance Mob an opportunity to perform and provided Stanley an opportunity to choreograph and have his work seen. One performance only.
